2025 Pre-Season Defense Rankings

Overall defense Ranking:

1. Matadors 🐂 (93) - Hamilton, Pualau, LaBarbera, Schneider, Leggett x2, Arguello: Dors n’ Tecs tied points. Talent is debateable between the Top 2, chemistry isn’t. Gave the Dors the edge, because while they did lose a ton of talent, I’m confident their chemistry will still be solid. Champs defense outscored some offenses last year. 

2. Aztecs 🏺(93) - Hoffman, Llamas, Peterson, White, Peterman, Driscoll: Maybe the most talented. A ton of stars. But big personalities that all want to be THE guy often ends in sour feelings. How do they react when someone gives up a big play, and god forbid IF they lose a game this season? At least they have a solid coaching staff. But too many cooks in the kitchen usually doesn’t end well. 

3. Black Tide 🔱 (89) - Carlen, Dotellis, Eissa, Graff, Sandoval, Maae, Hurst: Super dominant DL, and then a lot of questions. They’ll be in the Top 3 for sure, just a lot more uncertainty than the Top 2, but the potential is there. Confident this unit has the most excitement going into this year. An entirely shifted culture. 

4. Alphas 🐺(61) - Bowers, Hammer, Blancas, Dyer, Woolsey, Franco, Pizano: Another tie up. Last year I felt these guys were an O team. But I think they’ve transitioned to the D. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, there will be a docking period, we will see after the bi. 

5. Sabers 🐅 (61) - Lara, Kellar, Corder, Anderson, Joiner, Jackio, Gilham: A lot more depth than most, but less stars. Lara is a star. The DBs all think they’re stars. But a long season, injuries mounting, these guys are deeper. They have a lot of big personalities though, and all of last years coaching staff is gone. If stuff starts going South, it’s gonna go REAL south. 

6. Diggers ⛏️ (35) - Thoren, Johnson, Simental, Olmos, Hunter, Jones, Trammell: This is probably the correct ranking, just a lot closer gap to the team above, with me forgetting Johnson. They’re very solid, just not many game breakers, aside from Thoren ofcourse. They can definitely make the playoffs, but it’s gonna be a battle. 

7. Warhawks ✈️ (24) - Brinkman, Baird, Sondermann, Rodriguez, Eckebrecht, Stewart, Snow: A bad defense. They’ll shine against the bottom 2. But they’ll struggle against everyone else. Rob will have them positioned well enough to not get blown out as bad as they should by top teams. 

8. Griffins 🪄 (😎 - Jacobsen, Vincent, McCowan, Garcia, Villalobos: Your welcome to the league cums quick, trust me, I’d know. They’ve got a solid foundation, and the numbers, but there’s going to be a lot of growing pains. I’d know about that too. They could maybe catch a team sleeping and overlooking them. 

9. Guardians 🪽(4) - Tolman, Eyre: The question isn’t if you’ll give up 50 points weekly, you’re definitely going 0-8. It’s will you finish the season?
